Fair Access to Banking

To: Sen. Bennet, Rep. DeGette, Sen. Hickenlooper

From: A constituent in Denver, CO

July 21

Banking is a daily aspect of people's lives, coming up in both casual and important events all the time. But too often a payment processor is allowed to make arbitrary decisions about whether someone can use them for certain aspects, based on nothing but whims and biases. The Fair Access to Banking Act needs to be passed to prevent that. Someone's ability to give and receive payments should not be hampered because Mastercard, Paypal, or Visa decided they didn't like what someone was saying or selling. It is one thing if the product being sold is illegal. It is another if it's simply because they don't like the product.
