Trump is an odd duck for a Republican; we all know this. He wants total federal control, he wants to spend ridiculous amounts of money on gifts, glitz, and gold, and he seems to have absolute disregard for the working class and American families, historically the rallying cry of the GOP. But the GOP isn't what it was anymore--this is something new and monstrous. A sitting president just demanded that states undo their own work to meet the gaps left by the federal government's failure to act. The president just declared that states cannot work to feed families when the federal government will not. When he, himself, has declared that he will not. The funds are available. States are making sure kids get fed, and Trump just told them to let those kids starve. Are you going to stand by and watch while Trump actively chooses to rip food from the plates of millions of working class families, many of them your and his supporters, in the name of a totalitarian federal government and the degradation of states' rights? Do you belong to the Grand Old Party, or do you side with this new right, this authoritarian rule, this stripping of vox populi? Stand against Trump. Rein him in and end his reign. We the people want democracy and the rights of states to care for their citizens. Call for his impeachment and return the power to the populace and our elected representatives, and for God's sake, feed the people.
