Please Veto HB445

To: Gov. Ivey

From: A constituent in Auburn, AL

May 8

I am a voting constituent in Alabama as well as a devoted mother guided by faith and concern for the well-being of our communities. I am writing to respectfully urge you not to sign HB445 into law. Since the legalization of hemp in 2018, there have been no confirmed deaths attributed to its use. This fact underscores the safety of these products when properly regulated. More importantly, HB445 threatens the livelihoods of countless Alabamians. Hundreds of small businesses—many of them family-owned and community-rooted—would be forced to shut their doors, taking with them local jobs and hard-earned investments. These businesses are not just economic engines; they represent hope, innovation, and resilience in a state that prides itself on entrepreneurial spirit. Shutting them down through HB445 would inflict avoidable economic harm on our communities. I deeply respect your leadership and commitment to Alabama, and I ask you to consider the real impact this bill will have on everyday citizens like myself. Thank you for your time and service to our state.
