An Open Letter

I am appalled and disgusted by the recent strike approval from DC33 due to the admins choice to not approve a higher raise (to a livable wage for our cities laborious and essential jobs), and the direction to drop our trash off ourselves.
Philadelphia relies on these essential services and not only that, our tax dollars pay for these services. The raises given to the mayoral administration and Philadelphia Police Department could easily be rectified and split among essential jobs in DC33.
My vote for you in the general election was a hope things for the city would get better and more progressive, not worse. Turning down livable rage increases for essential workers to fund the pockets of others is hard to look at. The city needs these people and as a tax paying resident of Philadelphia, who appreciates a lack of maggots, cockroaches, and mice in the streets, I am truly hoping this strike ends quickly on behalf of the administration. Pay your workers fairly. They work through all sorts of awful weather to help our city and the least we can do is allow them a livable wage.
