Oppose destructive megabill harming families, students, environment

This megabill being pushed by the Trump administration contains numerous harmful provisions that will negatively impact many Americans and industries crucial to our future. Extending the 2017 tax cuts primarily benefits the wealthy while deep cuts to Medicaid, food stamps, and other safety net programs will strip healthcare and nutrition assistance from millions of low-income families and children. The bill rolls back clean energy incentives and electric vehicle tax credits, damaging emerging technologies vital for addressing climate change and energy independence. Student loan reforms make borrowing for education more difficult. Moreover, the $3.3 trillion increase to the deficit over the next decade is fiscally reckless and will raise interest rates, making loans more expensive for all. I urge you to vigorously oppose this legislation. Its draconian cuts to healthcare, anti-poverty programs, and clean energy initiatives, coupled with economically unsound tax giveaways to the rich, make it detrimental to Louisiana's working families, students, environment, and fiscal health. We need policies that invest in our people and future, not slash the social safety net to fund tax breaks for the wealthy few. Please fight against this destructive bill that favors corporations and the affluent over the wellbeing of ordinary Americans. A brighter, more prosperous path forward exists.
