As a Texas voter and taxpayer, I am writing to urge you to oppose SB 2 and any legislation supporting school vouchers in Texas. Public tax dollars should be used exclusively for the public good, and that means fully funding our public schools—not diverting critical resources to private entities that are not held to the same standards of transparency or accountability. Texas public schools educate the vast majority of our children, serving as the backbone of our communities and economy. Instead of vouchers, I ask you to prioritize robust funding for public education to ensure every child—regardless of zip code—has access to a quality education. I implore you to use all your influence and resources in helping to release the over $4.5 billion that has been set aside for our schools without tying it to a voucher system the majority of Texans do not want. Please stand with Texas families and vote against any proposals that weaken our public school system. Your leadership on this issue will help secure a brighter future for all Texans.
