Investigate & question the Nevada Division of Insurance

To: Assembly Member Kasama, Gov. Lombardo, Sen. Dondero Loop

From: A constituent in Las Vegas, NV

December 24

Time to investigate and question the Nevada Division of Insurance. Upon researching it is my understanding that, "the Nevada Division of Insurance has the authority to regulate insurance premiums." Supposedly, "insurers in Nevada can only implement rates that have been approved by the Division, ensuring that rates are adequate, not excessive, and not unfairly discriminatory." I read in the news that the Nevada Division of Insurance approved a 26% increase in health insurance premiums in the NV Marketplace. How in the world can the Nevada Division of Insurance justify approving a 26% premium increase?! Does the average worker or pensioner in Nevada receive a 26% annual cost-of-living raise? I think not. How can the gap between the typical annual COL for a worker or pensioner and the rate increase approved by the Nevada Division of Insurance not be considered "excessive"? This needs to be investigated expeditiously. Please look into this urgently on behalf of your constituents.
