Prisoners held illegally in El Salvador

To: Rep. Crockett, Sen. Cornyn, Sen. Cruz

From: A constituent in Duncanville, TX

April 16

The continued detention of Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia at CECOT, a maximum-security prison meant for terrorists, is deeply concerning despite court rulings and lack of evidence linking him to any gang activity or criminal offenses. It is unacceptable that the Trump administration is allegedly financially compensating the Salvadoran government to keep an individual imprisoned without due process. This undermines the rule of law and human rights principles. Abrego Garcia's wrongful deportation and subsequent imprisonment highlight systemic flaws in the immigration system that must be addressed. I urge you to take immediate action to secure his release and safe return to the United States, as well as implement comprehensive reforms to prevent such injustices from occurring again. Protecting civil liberties and upholding democratic values should be of utmost priority.
