Silence Is Not Neutral — Our Legislators Must Defend the Rule of Law Now”
To: Sen. Ernst, Sen. Grassley, Rep. Nunn
From: A constituent in Des Moines, IA
November 12
Each of you swore an oath to defend the Constitution, not to protect any one person. That oath carries weight now. The courts have spoken, and the rule of law is being tested. Every elected official has a duty to act when those in power defy judicial authority or treat the law as optional.
Senator Grassley, you’ve promised investigations into the misuse of power within federal agencies. That must include holding Donald Trump and anyone in his orbit accountable for disobeying court orders or obstructing justice. The same standard applies to every branch official—no exceptions.
Senator Ernst and Representative Nunn, you too hold oversight power. Silence in the face of defiance is complicity. Iowa’s citizens expect you to uphold transparency, protect judicial independence, and support legislation that enforces court compliance by any officeholder.
This moment transcends party lines. The balance of powers only survives if Congress enforces it. Iowans deserve representatives who choose country over allegiance, duty over fear, and accountability over convenience.
Take action. Hold hearings. Demand compliance. Defend the rule of law while it still stands.
