Budget Cuts to Short Term Programs for Blind Students

To: Sen. Jones, Gov. Ivey, Rep. Gidley

From: A verified voter in Gadsden, AL

April 17

I am concerned about potential funding cuts to Alabama School for the Blind Short Term Programs. Short-Term Programs (STP) at the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind will offer three to five-day courses that focus on specific needs of students with visual impairments that live in Alabama. My young adult daughter is blind. She lives independently at her college campus and is thriving. AIDB programs helped lay the foundation that led to her success. It would be a shame for blind students in Alabama to lose this valuable resource. Please reconsider any budget cuts to this program and other programs that help individuals with disabilities.
