The events of this weekend in Las Angeles have chilled me to the core. Calling out National Guard against the will of a state's leaders is a dictatorial abuse of power. This CANNOT be allowed to stand. In addition, even if we have too many folks with imperfect immigration status in the U.S., the kind of brutatlity exhibited by ICE, rolling up with no ID and masked, is unconstitutional and just plain wrong. Centering a government on hate - not opportunity and equality - is wrong. You know this. Your parents and your grandparents who remember WWII knew it for sure. We are heading for Kristallnact. You are a U.S. representative. You swore an oath to defend the Constitution. NOW is the time to prove that you meant it.
