An Open Letter
To: Mayor Mamdani
From: A verified voter in New York, NY
July 21
Everyone must abide by the law. The over 1,000 condominium inhabitants in The Orion on 42nd Street (and I’m sure others area residents) are being harassed by illegal noise from people on 40th Street. This includes air horns (honking is an NYC violation), drums, whistles, noise makers, and other devices. This has been occurring for weeks now, from 7:00AM to 10:00PM and is in clear violation of decibel levels for New York City. This is impacting sleep, work, and children’s study. The NYPD and 311 have been unable to stop this behavior.
I understand grievances, but we all must handle them in a civilized manner and within the bounds of the law. This group needs to behave according to the law and be fined for violations. If they cannot sit down with their counterparties, that is their problem. They should not disrupt the lives of tax paying residents (income taxes, real estate taxes, sales taxes, etc. We are an owner occupied building).
Please make this stop asap.
