Restore NOAA's support for the Arctic Report Card immediately. On August 10, 2026, the Trump administration ended 20 years of federal backing for this program — and that decision needs to be reversed. The Arctic Report Card is not a policy document or a set of projections. It's a peer-reviewed, plain-language account of what is actually happening in Alaska and the Arctic right now: sea ice loss, salmon populations, beaver migration, rusting rivers, Indigenous community observations. More than 100 scientists from over a dozen countries volunteer their time each year to produce it. NOAA's role was coordination and continuity — without it, that infrastructure collapses. No other annual report covers Arctic ecosystems with this breadth or timeliness. Alaska is nearly 20 percent of U.S. land area. The communities here depend on accurate, accessible environmental information for food security, cultural continuity, and economic planning. Losing the Arctic Report Card doesn't make the changes stop — it just makes them harder to track and understand. Fight to get NOAA's support restored.
