Remove Surveillance Technology

To: Gov. Pritzker, Sen. Syverson, Rep. Keicher

From: A constituent in Geneva, IL

February 22

I am writing to urge you, in the strongest possible terms, to immediately and completely remove all Flock Safety cameras from our communities and to formally commit to not deploying similar mass surveillance systems in the future. These cameras create long lasting records of residents’ movements, associations, and daily lives. This data is controlled by a private company that can be searched, shared, and accessed without meaningful transparency, consent, or judicial oversight. Such expansive surveillance treats everyone as a suspect and poses a serious threat to privacy, civil liberties, and public trust. Public safety must not come at the cost of fundamental rights. Our community deserves solutions that are accountable, targeted, and respectful of constitutional protections. I reject broad, indiscriminate surveillance. I ask that you act promptly to remove this system and publicly affirm a commitment to protecting residents from invasive surveillance going forward.
