I am writing as your constituent asking you to choose a Senate Majority Leader who is not heavily influenced by foreign interest groups, is fluent in digital outreach so we can hold onto younger voters, and who is interested in pursuing both accountability and affordability. Chuck Schumer is NOT the reason we won; we won in spite of him. He backed Stevens in MI and failed to back Nixon in FL. I do not know a single person in any of my multiple affinity groups that support him as leader. I’m asking you to support Elizabeth Warren, who has gone after corruption for years, or Van Hollen, who is brave enough to start the conversation. Or even Senator Murray. Better yet, ditch seniority as a basis for leadership entirely, and go with effectiveness. I do NOT want to see Schumer in leadership because I am not interested in merely comforting the donor class and seeking bi-partisanship. Our Constitution and democracy demand justice and accountability, and we should have learned from the failure of Merrick Garland’s glacial pace that accountability needs to be pursued promptly to the best of our ability.
