Protect Americans from Unjust Targeting and Harmful Policies

The increasing appointment of unqualified individuals to high-level government positions is deeply concerning, not only for the integrity of our leadership but also for the mental and emotional well-being of the citizens they serve. As a mental health professional, I see firsthand the impact that instability, incompetence, and unethical leadership have on individuals and families. When those in power lack the necessary expertise and judgment, the consequences ripple through communities, leading to increased anxiety, distrust, and hopelessness.
Equally troubling is the growing restriction of free speech. The ability to express thoughts, concerns, and differing viewpoints is essential for personal and societal well-being. Silencing voices—especially those advocating for justice, equity, and truth—creates an environment of fear, self-doubt, and disempowerment. When people feel unheard or afraid to speak, the result is increased distress, isolation, and division.
Perhaps most alarming is the government’s increasing use of fear-based tactics to control and influence public behavior. Fear is a powerful tool that, when weaponized, leads to heightened stress, trauma responses, and a sense of helplessness among individuals and entire populations. Psychological safety is a fundamental human need, and when it is eroded by manipulation or coercion, the effects are devastating—leading to increased rates of depression, anxiety, and trauma-related disorders.
This nation was built on the principles of freedom, respect, and human dignity, yet we are witnessing a shift toward fear, division, and authoritarianism. I implore you to take action to uphold ethical leadership, protect freedom of speech, and ensure that governance is rooted in transparency, compassion, and service to the people. The mental health of this nation depends on it.
