Your King Shall Have His Ballroom

To: Rep. Bergman

While Michiganders in the First District struggle to pay rent, buy food, and see a doctor, you’ve stood by as President Trump builds himself a gilded monument to excess on public grounds. Even if not a single taxpayer dollar goes toward the marble or gold leaf, every agency, security team, and logistical detail will still draw from public funds. Americans are subsidizing vanity while schools, hospitals, and disaster relief programs face cuts. A true public servant would demand full transparency about who’s funding this and what they expect in return. You’d ask why those same donors and government resources aren’t being directed toward rebuilding homes lost to floods, supporting rural hospitals, or caring for veterans sleeping in tents, rather than enabling another monument to one man’s vanity. As hardship deepens across this nation, the president dances while the country burns, and too many in Congress watch from the balcony.
