Will You Sign the Pledge to Protect Our Elections, or Will You Stay Silent? I am asking you to sign the Pledge to Protect the 2026 Elections and say so publicly. Defending the vote is not a partisan favor. It is your job. You took an oath to uphold the Constitution, and the Constitution puts elections in the hands of the states and Congress, not the president. Signing this pledge is simply a promise to do what you already swore to do. It is also what a patriot would do. Loving this country means protecting the right of every citizen to vote and to have that vote counted, whether the winner is someone you like or someone you don't. It means putting the country ahead of the party, and the Constitution ahead of whoever holds power at the moment. This matters to me personally. My vote is the one piece of power I hold over the people who govern me. I want to walk into my polling place without fear, trust that my ballot will be counted, and know that the winner, whoever it is, will take their seat. I am asking you to sign the following pledge, word for word, and announce it publicly before November 3: Pledge to Protect the 2026 Elections A nonpartisan commitment from members of Congress: every lawful vote counted, every certified winner seated, regardless of party or who holds the presidency. I, a member of the United States Congress, pledge to the people I represent that I will: Defend Election Day. Oppose any attempt to cancel, postpone, or change the date or rules of federal elections outside the constitutional process. Only Congress and the states hold that power, not the president. Keep the military and armed agents away from the polls. Defend existing federal law barring troops and armed federal personnel from polling places, oppose any emergency or martial-law declaration used to interfere with an election, and support legislation that strengthens these limits, such as the Protect Our Polls Act and the Stop ICE Election Militarization Act. Protect ballots and election records. Oppose the destruction, seizure, or tampering with ballots, voting machines, or election records by any official. I will demand oversight hearings, documents, and testimony about any federal action that threatens them. Count every lawful vote. Oppose any order or action that blocks delivery, receipt, or counting of lawfully cast ballots, including through the Postal Service. Seat every certified winner. Vote to seat every candidate whose state has certified their election. I will not object to a member-elect on any ground other than the qualifications in the Constitution or a properly filed contest, and I will support a House resolution naming another officer to administer the oath if the Speaker refuses to. Hold my own side to the same standard. These commitments apply whether the winner, the president, or the leadership involved belongs to my party or another. Report to my constituents. State this pledge publicly and update my constituents on actions I take to uphold it. The question in this letter's title is one I am putting directly to you. My answer to it is simple: I expect you to sign. Every member of Congress, of every party, should be able to make this promise without hesitation, and those who refuse will have to explain why to the people they represent. Thank you for your service, and for taking this request seriously.
