Block Trump's Executive Order Removing Six Childhood Vaccines from CDC Recommendations

To: Sen. Van Hollen, Sen. Alsobrooks, Rep. Elfreth

June 3

Oppose Trump's May 29th executive order stripping six childhood vaccines from the CDC's recommended schedule. This decision belongs to scientists and physicians, not the Oval Office. The vaccines removed include routine protections against flu, rotavirus, hepatitis A, hepatitis B at birth, meningococcal disease, and COVID-19 — vaccines that have kept American children safe for decades. This order exists because the administration lost in court. In March 2026, a judge ruled that RFK Jr.'s firing of the entire 17-member Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices was likely illegal, voiding the committee's prior removal of these vaccines. Rather than comply, Trump signed an executive order to override the ruling. That is not science. That is a president using executive power to circumvent judicial oversight of a medical decision. The White House claims this aligns us with peer nations, but that argument doesn't hold up. The U.S. has 1.5 to 3 times higher hepatitis B rates than Denmark, the country most often cited as a model, and 27 other European nations still recommend the hepatitis B birth dose. We have no FDA head, no CDC head, no Surgeon General, and an estimated 10 to 11 million people losing Medicaid. This is not the moment to dismantle childhood vaccine infrastructure. Push back on this order and demand that vaccine policy be returned to independent scientific review.
