This bill poses a grave threat to the freedom of speech and the ability of civil society groups to voice dissent and criticism of the government without fear of retaliation. Stripping tax-exempt status based on unilateral accusations of wrongdoing would effectively silence these organizations and undermine a core pillar of democracy. We cannot allow the executive branch to wield such unchecked power to investigate and shut down its critics, be they news outlets, universities, human rights groups or others. Dissenting voices are vital for holding power accountable, not terrorist threats to be crushed. Preserving robust civil liberties must be the priority. I urge you to stand firm against any attempts to expand the government's authority to stifle legitimate dissent and criticism under the guise of national security.
