Do we still have a Constitution?
“In what meaningful way can we say that the constitution is in effect when an unelected and unaccountable billionaire is wielding state power to unilaterally cancel congressional appropriations?” - Jamelle Bouie
If any other private citizen wrested control of the federal government’s finances and installed himself and his goons to oversee a system-wide spending freeze of already appropriated funds, we would rightly call it a coup, and the perpetrators would be arrested immediately. But because Elon Musk is a billionaire, he has, so far, succeeded in his hostile takeover without consequence. The judiciary has repeatedly rejected Musk and Trump’s unconstitutional actions. But Musk has already stated he intends to ignore the rulings. How do we ensure the law is upheld?
What of our Constitution?
