Donald Trump has once again crossed a line that no American president should ever approach. On Truth Social, he publicly stated that he is “giving serious consideration to taking away [Rosie O’Donnell’s] Citizenship” because she is, in his words, “not in the best interests of our Great Country” and a “threat to humanity.”
Let’s be clear: the President of the United States does not have the authority to strip an American-born citizen of their citizenship — especially not for personal dislike, political disagreement, or public criticism. That power does not exist in a constitutional democracy. It is not legal. It is not theoretical. It is flat-out unconstitutional.
The Fourteenth Amendment guarantees birthright citizenship. The Supreme Court has upheld that even people convicted of serious crimes — even treason — cannot be stripped of their citizenship arbitrarily. So what exactly is Congress waiting for?
This isn’t a joke. It isn’t just Trump “being Trump.” This is the language of authoritarian regimes — where citizenship is a tool of obedience, and political enemies are cast out like traitors. This is not America.
He is not just unfit for office. He is a danger to the very foundations of our republic.
Every time you let this kind of hate-fueled lunacy slide, you normalize it. Every time you say nothing, you embolden it. And every time you refuse to act, you tell the American people that citizenship — their very place in this country — is now conditional on Donald Trump’s mood.
This isn’t funny. It’s terrifying.
It’s time to say it plainly: Trump is a threat to the Constitution.
Do your job. Stop this now.
