I am writing to express my strong disapproval of the recently reported $1.8 billion fund agreed to by the President and the Acting Attorney General. This arrangement raises serious concerns about transparency, accountability, and the proper use of public resources.
I am particularly troubled by the role of the Acting Attorney General, whose prior relationship with the President creates, at minimum, a significant conflict of interest. This undermines public trust and calls into question their fitness to serve in such a critical, independent position.
Congress needs to assert its oversight authority over the executive branch, regardless of which party holds power. Failure to do so weakens the constitutional balance of power and erodes confidence in our institutions.
I urge you to take immediate steps to investigate this matter and ensure appropriate checks are enforced.
