demand investigation into Musk's 'conflicts' over billions in fed contracts

To: Rep. Hamadeh, Sen. Kelly, Sen. Gallego

From: A constituent in Phoenix, AZ

February 7

Federal law prohibits conflicts of interest involving government employees and their personal financial interests. Elon Musk's companies like SpaceX and Starlink have received over $3.3 billion in federal contracts and subsidies in just the past year. As a Special Government Employee leading DOGE, Musk's engagements on matters affecting his companies' financial interests could violate 18 U.S.C. § 208 which bars federal employees from participating in matters impacting their own finances. A prompt investigation is warranted to ensure Musk is complying with ethics laws and not influencing policy for personal gain, thereby preserving integrity in government decision-making. Failure to enforce these rules risks eroding public trust.
