The news of the Department of Education transferring student loans to the Treasury Department has me gravely concerned. As a borrower, I do not feel confident that this transfer will be smooth or accurate. In my time as a borrower, my payments have only increased, my debt has only increased due to not being able to pay down principle only and interest rates. The infrastructure is not in place to adequately handle this transfer. What promises do we have that our balance and debt history will be accurate? The student loan crisis is about to become a grave matter for every day Americans. I would request that you would seriously look into the handling of this debt transfer. Student debt is a huge problem in this country. Forgiveness options need to be available immediately. Promises that were made about forgiveness and cancellation have not been upheld. Do the right thing by your constituents.
