Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran. Good job guys. The Trump administration and the GOP Congress may have just started WWIII. We can all be happy we have such a high level of competence leading the charge. But this is just the icing on the cake of calamity for the country and the world. So we’ll go back to the topic that seems to be the primary motivator for it all…Jeffrey Epstein. And what Trump doesn’t want to show us. Senator Ron Wyden has been following the Epstein money trail for years. On Monday, CBS News reported a newly uncovered document in the Epstein files shows that the DEA was running an investigation of Epstein and 14 other people for drug trafficking, prostitution, and money laundering. This investigation—different from the sex trafficking case under way when he died—began on December 17, 2010, under the Obama administration and was still operating in 2015. A heavily redacted document in the Epstein files from the director of the DEA’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) said “DEA reporting indicates the above individuals are involved in illegitimate wire transfers which are tied to illicit drug and/or prostitution activities occurring in the U.S. Virgin Islands and New York City.” The investigation was named “Chain Reaction.” Senator Wyden described OCDETF as “a premier task force set up to identify, disrupt and dismantle major organized crime and drug trafficking operations.” It “worked with partners across federal agencies to conduct sophisticated investigations into transnational organized crime and money laundering. OCDETF frequently targeted dangerous drug cartels, the Russian mafia and violent gangs moving fentanyl and weapons.” The Trump administration dismantled OCDETF. Big surprise. There’s absolutely no crime that he won’t pardon or shut down if personal interests are involved. But at least now, by going after the Clintons, Republicans have opened the door for us to demand that the Trumps testify. “Morning Joe,” panelists noted that while Hillary Clinton didn’t know Epstein, there are many photos of Melania with him, along with her husband and Ghislaine Maxwell. And the bajillion Trump mentions in the files. Host Joe Scarborough said “[James] Comer got the wrong first lady.” And, he added, “today [referring to Bill Clinton] he’s got the wrong president.” Absolutely none of this is going to end well for the political futures of the GOP. The lack of judgement and concern for the Constitution, the country, your constituents, and your oath of office is unbelievable. We are careening from one travesty to the next, and y’all either ignore it, or pour gasoline on it. Which, by the way, has gone up 50 cents a gallon in the past week where I live. Now I know why.
