An Open Letter

To: Sen. Paul, Sen. McConnell, Rep. Comer

From: A constituent in Campbellsville, KY

December 12

As your constituent and a supporter of the Human Rights Campaign, I’m writing to voice my strong opposition to H.R. 3492, which would criminalize the provision of gender-affirming care to transgender young people. Marjorie Taylor Greene announced she cut a corrupt deal with Speaker Mike Johnson to force a vote on her cruel bill, which would charge health care providers with a felony for offering this best practice, medically necessary care. That could mean fines, jail time for doctors and other providers — and even parents facing criminal charges for administering prescribed medication. Every family should have the freedom and privacy to go to the doctor and get the care their child needs. And politicians should stay out of the relationship between doctors and patients. Our leaders should be working out a solution to the impending crisis of soaring health care costs and ensuring every child has access to quality health care, not dreaming up new ways to use the power of government to tear people’s lives apart. I strongly urge you to vote no on H.R. 3492. Thank you for your consideration. I’ll be following this issue closely
