I want non-Tesla car chargers in the community

Is it an Elon Musk thing that all car chargers in the community (at Target, for example) that are not Tesla chargers have been removed? I don't want to get an adapter to use them, as I don't want to add money to Musk's fortune. He now seems to have a monopoly of car charging and I don't like it.
