An Open Letter

To: Sen. Hickenlooper, Sen. Bennet, Rep. DeGette

From: A constituent in Denver, CO

October 4, 2025

I support bipartisan action on common sense gun reform. I’m writing today as a concerned citizen and survivor of a Colorado school shooting and voter to ask you to support common sense gun laws that prioritize public safety without infringing on responsible gun ownership. Recent mass shootings have shown yet again that our current policies are not working. I’m not calling to take away guns. I’m calling for universal background checks, safe storage laws, red flag protections, and limits on high-capacity weapons that make mass shootings more deadly. Gun violence is not a partisan issue it’s an American crisis. Please stop letting political gridlock cost lives. The majority of Americans across party lines support reforms like these. I’m asking you to show courage, lead with compassion, and protect your constituents especially children. We deserve to feel safe in schools, at concerts, in grocery stores, and on the streets. Please act now
