I'm writing to express deep concern regarding the illegal abduction and continued detention of Braedon Peluso, Christian Smalls, Frank Romano, Huwaida Arraf, Jacob Berger, Robert Suberi, and Waad Aal Musa, all U.S. citizens, who are currently being held in Israel following the interception of a Freedom Flotilla in international waters on Saturday, 26th July 2025.
The Freedom Flotilla was carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza when it was unlawfully intercepted and boarded by Israeli forces. The crew was forcibly taken and transferred across international borders to Israel, despite never entering, nor attempting to enter, the country— a clear violation constituting a crime under international law.
Their charge of “illegally entering Israel” is baseless and unjust. The detainment of them constitutes a political abduction and an egregious breach of their human rights. I urge you to:
1. Demand and ensure the immediate release of the seven U.S. citizens and all of the other crew members.
2. Provide consular access and support without delay.
3. Publicly condemn this illegal act of abduction and call for accountability under international law.
The international community must not remain silent in the face of these violations. Political prisoners must be freed, and states must protect their citizens from unlawful detention abroad.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
