STOP for-profit utilities from CHARGING US for their political lobbying – SIGN AB 1167 & SB 24 TODAY! 93% of California voters agree that utilities should not charge customers for wasteful spending, including lobbying, PR, and marketing. For–profit utilities spend MILLIONS of OUR MONEY every year on political lobbying and advertisements. With families facing record-high utility costs, AB 1167 & SB24 will provide commonsense guardrails to protect customers. These bills deserve the Governor’s signature. They’re CHARGING US to lobby against clean energy, good climate policies, utility reform, or ANY legislation that would benefit our communities at the expense of their corporate profits. Two bills on the Governor’s desk would curtail this spending and protect consumers: ➡️ AB 1167 would ban for-profit utilities from using customer money for political activities, lobbying, promotional advertising, and dues for trade associations. ➡️ SB 24 would ban investor-owned utilities from using customer money to lobby against utility municipalization efforts and strengthen the California Public Utility Commission’s investigatory authority.
