Oppose H.R.1 when it reaches the Senate

Senators, I am writing to urge you to oppose the "One Big Beautiful Bill" which has just narrowly passed in the House. This budget reconciliation bill is full of provisions which would do material harm to your constituents. The cuts to essential government programs like Medicaid and Medicare would strip health coverage from millions of Americans, and the proposed additional work requirements would do nothing but create further administrative bloat in the relevant government offices; additionally, these changes are a direct violation of Republican promises to leave Medicare unmolested. Furthermore, the provision which cuts contempt of court enforcement is yet another measure designed to make the Trump administration as untouchable as a monarchy. This country was founded explicitly to rid ourselves of the burden of kings, and I find it despicable that so much of the Republican party is attempting to abet the dissolution of the Constitution in favor of establishing a new monarchy in all but name. Finally, the proposals to increase the ICE budget represent another attack on the Constitution, particularly the right to due process which it extends to every person present on United States soil. If anyone can be snatched off the street and held and/or deported without the opportunity to argue their case in front of a judge, then no one can count on being allowed to exercise that right, even US citizens. Again, I urge you to oppose the "One Big Beautiful Bill" (H.R.1) when it makes its way to your Senate docket. The problems I described above are only a small subset of the disastrous provisions present in this piece of legislation, so I request that you consider the needs of the larger portion of your constituents, rather than the wants of the few richest. Thank you for your time.
