Concern over President Trump’s Rapid Wealth Increase and Conflicts of Interest

July 2
I am writing to express my deep concern over President Donald Trump’s extraordinary increase in personal wealth during his second term, and the apparent monetization of the presidency through his family’s business activities.
Conservative and mainstream outlets alike have documented this surge. The Wall Street Journal reported that President Trump made more than $1 billion on crypto deals in 2025, part of a broader windfall that also included licensing fees, real estate income, and legal settlements. The New York Post detailed disclosures showing over $1 billion in crypto income plus tens of millions in new foreign real estate and licensing deals from countries including India, Qatar, Romania, Vietnam, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Saudi Arabia. Forbes estimated that the Trump family’s net worth nearly doubled since the last election, with the president adding roughly $1.4–$3 billion in a single year, largely from cryptocurrency ventures and international licensing.[wsj +3]
This situation is especially troubling given the intense scrutiny and public outrage previously directed at Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings, which Republicans characterized as “influence peddling” and a threat to national security. House GOP memos and testimony highlighted payments to Hunter Biden from foreign entities and his use of the “Biden brand” to sell access, generating widespread political controversy.[oversight.house +2]
If it was unacceptable for a president’s son to profit from perceived access to the White House, it should be equally unacceptable—and arguably more so—for a sitting president and his immediate family to dramatically enrich themselves while in office. I urge you to support robust oversight, potential reforms on presidential conflicts of interest, and transparency into the Trump family’s financial dealings. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
