Please vote no on the rescissions bill and preserve funding for CPB, NPR and PBS. Public media is an essential source of local news and relaying timely emergency communication, especially in rural areas where the local radio station plays a key role in emergency response and disaster relief efforts. Many would have to close if they lose funding. With the proposed wind down of FEMA, the cuts at NOAA, and the number of flood and storm emergencies we’ve had across the state, I’m very concerned that reducing emergency communication outlets on top of all this will hurt Kentucky’s emergency preparedness and response abilities.
