Demand Investigation and Accountability for Attorney General Bondi's Conduct

February 11

I am writing to demand immediate accountability for Attorney General Pam Bondi following her testimony before the House Judiciary Committee on May 14, 2025. Her conduct during this hearing demonstrated a fundamental disregard for the constitutional principles that should guide the Department of Justice. Bondi's behavior was unprecedented and unacceptable for the nation's chief law enforcement officer. She called Rep. Jamie Raskin, a former constitutional law professor, a "washed up loser lawyer" during congressional oversight proceedings. She came armed with opposition research to attack Democratic committee members rather than answer legitimate questions about DOJ operations. This is not how an Attorney General should conduct themselves when appearing before Congress to fulfill their constitutional duty of transparency. The substantive issues raised during the hearing demand investigation. Ten Epstein survivors attended the hearing, and when Rep. Pramila Jayapal asked them to raise their hands if they had not been able to meet with DOJ, all of them raised their hands. Bondi refused to apologize for DOJ mistakes that publicly released survivors' personal information through botched redactions. She also refused to answer questions about DOJ's work on President Trump's controversial domestic terrorism order targeting left-wing groups, an order criticized for silencing dissent. Most troubling, Bondi defended the employment of Jared Wise, an ex-FBI agent caught on video at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, shouting "Kill 'em! Kill 'em! Kill 'em!" at law enforcement. He now serves as a senior adviser at DOJ after receiving a presidential pardon. This sends a chilling message about who this administration considers qualified for law enforcement leadership. I urge you to support a full investigation into Bondi's conduct and any potentially unconstitutional actions by DOJ under her leadership. Those who violate their oath of office must face consequences. The rule of law depends on holding powerful officials accountable when they abuse their positions.
