Oppose Endless Military Interventions and Demand Accountability

To: Sen. Gallego, Sen. Kelly, Rep. Ciscomani

From: A verified voter in Tucson, AZ

March 7

I am writing to express my strong opposition to continued support for endless military interventions and to demand greater accountability in how Congress authorizes and funds military operations abroad. For over two decades, the United States has been engaged in conflicts that have cost trillions of dollars and thousands of American lives, with unclear objectives and no defined path to resolution. The Authorization for Use of Military Force passed in 2001 has been stretched far beyond its original intent, used to justify military action in countries that had no connection to the September 11 attacks. This blank check approach to war has failed both our service members and the American people. I expect you to oppose any legislation that continues this pattern of rubber stamping military interventions without rigorous debate, clear objectives, and sunset provisions. Congress has a constitutional duty to declare war and oversee military operations, yet this responsibility has been abdicated for far too long. Every authorization for military force should require a full debate on the floor, a clear statement of objectives, and a timeline for reassessment. The resources spent on endless wars could address critical needs here at home, from infrastructure to healthcare to education. Our constituents deserve representatives who will prioritize their wellbeing over the interests of defense contractors and those who profit from perpetual conflict. I urge you to vote against any future authorizations for military force that lack clear objectives and timelines, to support repealing outdated authorizations currently being misused, and to demand full transparency about ongoing military operations. I will be watching your votes on these matters closely and will hold you accountable to constituents who are tired of endless war.
