As your constituent, I urge you to vocally condemn the wrongful imprisonment and seizure of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, as well as the executive branch’s defiance of multiple court orders to bring Garcia back from the infamous CECOT torture prison in El Salvador.
Mr. Garcia has not been charged with any crime. He received no legally mandated due process. If the U.S. government can snatch anyone off the streets, fly them out of the country to a foreign torture dungeon, and laugh about it afterwards, we no longer live in the great Republic we did a few short months ago. We now live in the worst kind of dictatorship, one where people can be disappeared without warning and without cause.
The cruelty of these actions is staggering. Such callousness is beneath us as a country. If the President will not follow the rule of law as defined by the federal judiciary, only you can prevent the constitutional crisis that follows. Shame on you if you do not uphold that responsibility.
