I am writing to you in anger, disgust, and absolute disbelief that in 2026 the United States is still allowing an agency like ICE to operate with unchecked power, cruelty, and complete disregard for human life. What ICE is doing is not “immigration enforcement.” It is state-sanctioned violence. Families are being ripped apart. Children are being traumatized. Asylum seekers are being treated like criminals. People are being detained indefinitely, denied medical care, transferred without notice, and in some cases left to die in custody. These are not accidents. These are not “mistakes.” These are the predictable outcomes of a system designed to dehumanize immigrants. Your continued tolerance of ICE’s actions—whether through silence, weak statements, or empty oversight hearings—makes Congress complicit. When an agency operates with this level of brutality and zero accountability, and lawmakers fail to act, the blame does not stop with ICE. It extends to every elected official who allows it to continue. How many deaths in custody are acceptable? How many children must watch their parents disappear? How much documented abuse is required before Congress stops pretending this is normal or defensible? I demand immediate and concrete action: Full, independent investigations into ICE abuses and deaths Public accountability for officials who authorize or conceal misconduct An end to mass detention, family separation, and terror-based enforcement Real protections for asylum seekers and immigrant communities Anything less is a moral failure. Do not insult your constituents with vague statements about “border security” while human rights are being violated in our name. Do not hide behind procedure while lives are destroyed. History will remember who spoke up—and who chose comfort and political safety over justice. I expect a direct response explaining exactly what you will do to stop these atrocities. No more excuses. No more delays.
