The Trump administration's refusal to comply with the Supreme Court order regarding the wrongful deportation and detention of Kilmar Abrego Garcia in El Salvador is a deeply alarming affront to the rule of law and constitutional order. By defiantly claiming unreviewable authority over "foreign policy" matters, the administration is asserting the power to render any person, including U.S. citizens, to overseas prisons without due process. This unbounded assertion of executive power represents a dangerous constitutional crisis. We urgently request that you take immediate action to uphold the separation of powers and the authority of the judicial branch. The executive branch cannot be allowed to disregard binding court orders and operate outside the system of checks and balances. Failure to address this brazen defiance will not only endanger Abrego Garcia's rights and liberty, but risks enshrining a precedent of lawless authoritarianism incompatible with our democratic system of government. Swift congressional oversight and accountability measures are imperative to protect American civil liberties and constitutional principles from further erosion. The rule of law must be forcefully upheld without exception.
