PASS THE BUDGET NOW — NO MORE GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWNS
To: Sen. Hawley, Sen. Schmitt
From: A verified voter in Kansas City, MO
January 19
I’m writing as your constituent to demand that Congress pass the federal budget before the end of this month so the government doesn’t shut down again.
These shutdown threats are not “politics” to regular people, they’re chaos. They waste taxpayer money, interrupt public services, and put federal workers and military families in a position where they don’t know if they’ll get paid on time. That’s unacceptable.
But this doesn’t just hurt government workers, it harms all Americans. A shutdown delays services and disrupts important systems people rely on every day, including things like national parks, public safety operations, small business support, travel infrastructure, and countless behind-the-scenes functions that keep the country running. It creates uncertainty in the economy, damages public trust, and makes the United States look unstable on the world stage.
I expect you to do your job and support a budget agreement that keeps the government open and functioning. Your constituents are counting on you!
