Please go on record opposing OMB-2026-0034, the proposed "Regulation for Federal Financial Assistance," before the July 13th comment deadline. This rule would hand a single political appointee veto power over every federal grant across every agency — bypassing the peer review and objective criteria that Congress built into these programs.
The damage would be immediate and sweeping. Any grant could be terminated mid-period simply because a political appointee decides it no longer fits administration priorities. Organizations whose policy positions differ from the current administration's could be denied funding outright. That is not grantmaking — it is political patronage with federal dollars.
Congress created these grant programs with explicit criteria and funded them through annual appropriations. This rule would override both. Submitting comments to OMB and publicly opposing this NPRM is a direct defense of Congress's own authority. I'm asking you to use it.
