Your Constituents Deserve Leadership- Stand Up and Speak Out
To: Sen. Hawley, Sen. Schmitt

October 16
I am writing to condemn the continued attacks on federal agencies and the treatment of federal employees under this administration, including the actions and policies associated with Russell Vought and Scott Kapoor. The continued dismantling of government agencies, the erosion of institutional stability, and the ongoing harassment and traumatization of federal employees are unacceptable. These are not just abstract political decisions. They have real consequences for the people who dedicate their careers to public service and for the millions of Americans who depend on the services these agencies provide. Federal employees deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, not subjected to an environment of intimidation, instability, and relentless attacks. They should not have to worry about their livelihoods, their working conditions, or their futures because of political agendas that disregard the human cost of these decisions. Meanwhile, the destruction of agency capacity threatens the government’s ability to serve the American people effectively. Where is your public condemnation? Where is your leadership? Where is your willingness to stand up for the people you represent? Silence in the face of these actions is unacceptable. Your constituents deserve more than carefully worded statements or political excuses. They deserve a representative who is willing to speak out, demand accountability, and challenge policies that harm federal workers and undermine the institutions responsible for serving this country. I expect you to publicly address these actions, hold those responsible accountable, and use your position to defend federal employees and protect the integrity of our government agencies. That means more than issuing a statement when it is politically convenient. It means taking a consistent, visible stand. If you expect to earn the continued trust of your constituents, you need to start standing up for them now. Representation is a responsibility, not a title. Your constituents are watching what you do, what you say, and what you choose to remain silent about. I am tired of watching federal employees endure this treatment while elected officials who are supposed to represent them fail to speak out forcefully enough. This is not acceptable, and it should not be normalized. I expect a direct response explaining what you intend to do to challenge these actions, defend federal workers, and protect the government services Americans rely on. My community deserves a representative who will stand up and speak out, even when doing so is politically difficult. It is time to decide whom you are representing: the people who elected you or an administration whose actions are causing lasting harm to federal employees and government institutions. I expect you to act accordingly.
