Public education must serve every child equally, regardless of faith or background. Mandating displays of the Ten Commandments in classrooms violates the First Amendment, undermines religious freedom, and risks turning schools into battlegrounds for religious dominance. Families across Texas are diverse: Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, atheist, and more. Our schools should respect that diversity.
I urge you to:
• Repeal laws requiring religious displays in public schools.
• Protect classrooms as secular, inclusive spaces that focus on education, not indoctrination.
• Ensure school policies reflect constitutional values of freedom of belief and freedom from government-imposed religion.
Texas must honor both faith and freedom by keeping schools neutral and welcoming for all.
