End Politically Motivated Mortgage Fraud Accusations

To: Pres. Trump

I am deeply concerned about the recent politically motivated accusations of mortgage fraud being leveled by the Trump administration, particularly those coming from Federal Housing Finance Agency director Bill Pulte. These allegations, targeting political opponents like Fed Governor Lisa Cook and Senator Adam Schiff for supposedly fraudulent claims of multiple primary residences, are not only hypocritical but also potentially damaging to our political discourse and financial system. A recent ProPublica investigation has revealed that at least three of President Trump's own Cabinet members - Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, and EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin - appear to have engaged in the very same practice of holding mortgages on multiple properties listed as primary residences. This glaring inconsistency undermines the credibility of the administration's campaign against mortgage fraud. Real estate experts have noted that having multiple mortgages listed as primary residences is often legal and rarely prosecuted. The key factor in determining mortgage fraud is intent, and innocent mistakes in mortgage paperwork are common. By mischaracterizing these complex mortgage rules for political gain, the administration risks eroding public trust in our financial institutions and regulatory bodies. I urge you to take immediate action to halt this politically motivated vendetta. Call for an end to these baseless accusations and demand a fair, non-partisan approach to addressing any genuine concerns about mortgage practices. Our government should focus on real issues affecting Americans, not engage in political theater that could have far-reaching consequences for our housing market and financial system. It's crucial that we maintain the integrity of our financial regulations and ensure they are applied equally and fairly to all Americans, regardless of their political affiliations. Please use your position to advocate for a more responsible and equitable approach to addressing mortgage practices, one that prioritizes facts over political expediency.
