Reject SB 2's Flawed Education Privatization in Texas
To: Sen. Cruz, Sen. Cornyn
From: A constituent in Houston, TX
February 5
Senate Bill 2 in Texas is a dangerous attempt to undermine public education through a voucher program disguised as "school choice." This bill would divert scarce resources away from fully funding our public schools that serve all students. Instead of supporting proven methods to improve educational outcomes, like increasing teacher pay and investing in struggling schools, SB 2 funnels over $1 billion to private institutions with little accountability. True school choice means providing high-quality options within the public system, not abandoning it. Public funds should uplift all students, not benefit a select few at the expense of the many. We cannot allow this legislation to exacerbate existing inequalities in education. SB 2 is a false solution that will leave the majority of Texas children behind. I urge you to reject this flawed proposal and prioritize genuine investments that give every student an equal opportunity to succeed.
