The Trump administration’s callous disregard for justice and due process is unconscionable. If it is allowed to stand, the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia will be a harbinger of widespread state terrorism against citizens and lawful immigrants to come. We—you—must demand that the President effect his release. “The Trump administration says that it mistakenly deported an immigrant with protected status but that courts are powerless to order his return. . . . But in Monday’s court filing, attorneys for the government admitted that the Salvadoran man, Kilmar Abrego Garcia, had been deported accidentally. “Although ICE was aware of his protection from removal to El Salvador, Abrego Garcia was removed to El Salvador because of an administrative error,” the government told the court. Trump lawyers said the court has no ability to bring Abrego Garcia back now that he is in Salvadoran custody.”
