Immediately Introduce Articles of Impeachment Against President Donald J. Trump
To: Rep. Bentz, Sen. Wyden, Sen. Merkley

April 17
I am writing to demand that you fulfill your constitutional obligation by introducing articles of impeachment against President Donald J. Trump for a sustained pattern of high crimes and misdemeanors that threaten the rule of law, violate constitutional boundaries, and endanger our democracy and economy. Since returning to office on January 20, 2025, President Trump has repeatedly exceeded the limits of executive power and defied his oath to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution. His impeachable conduct includes: 1. Violation of the Fourteenth Amendment – Abuse of Executive Power Trump’s executive order to revoke birthright citizenship directly violates the Fourteenth Amendment. Federal courts blocked it as “blatantly illegal.” Attempting to override the Constitution through fiat is a flagrant abuse of power. 2. Defiance of the Supreme Court – Obstruction of Justice The Trump administration refused to comply with a Supreme Court order to return Kilmar Ábrego García, a wrongfully deported resident. This open defiance of the judiciary undermines the rule of law and violates the separation of powers. 3. Misuse of the Alien Enemies Act – Denial of Due Process By invoking the 1798 Alien Enemies Act to deport Venezuelan migrants without judicial review, Trump violated the Fifth Amendment. Denying due process on this scale is a systemic abuse of federal authority. 4. Dismantling Federal Agencies – Usurpation of Legislative Powers Through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk, Trump attempted to dismantle USAID without congressional consent. A federal court ruled this unconstitutional. It infringes on Congress’s exclusive authority over agencies and budgets. 5. Illegal Tariffs – Violation of Article I and Economic Harm Trump has imposed tariffs without congressional approval, triggering economic instability and violating Article I, Section 8, which gives Congress authority over trade and taxation. This is a dangerous abuse of power. 6. Undermining National Security – Foreign Influence Concerns Allies such as the UK have reportedly limited intelligence sharing due to Trump’s alleged ties to adversaries like Russia. While not criminally charged, this is a serious breach of trust and national security risk. These are not isolated abuses. Together, they reflect a campaign to erode checks and centralize executive power. Violating amendments, defying courts, usurping legislative authority, and compromising national security all qualify as high crimes and misdemeanors. You swore an oath to the Constitution—not to a party or president. To ignore these violations is to condone them. I urge you to introduce and support articles of impeachment against President Donald J. Trump. History will remember who stood for the Republic—and who stayed silent.
