Trump is consolidating power and trying to take over the government. He has already frozen funds that were approved and allocated by Congress. The courts have halted his funding freezes, but many agencies cannot access funds because the payment system is not functioning properly. This circumvents court rulings that say Trump cannot freeze congressionally approved funds. He is trying to usurp Congress's constitutional power of the purse. Trump signed an executive order requiring independent agencies to to submit regulatory proposals to the executive branch for approval. Congress created those independent agencies with the intention that they operate independently, not beholden to one branch of government. This is yet another way Trump is trying to take power away from Congress. That same executive order gives the President and Attorney General the sole ability to interpret law for the executive branch. This means if Trump doesn't like a law, he can interpret it however he chooses and force employees to follow that interpretation. This diminishes the judicial branch's power. Even if courts rule something is unlawful, the executive branch can just interpret the law differently and that is what goes. What is the purpose of the judicial branch at that point? The official White House X account posted a photo of Trump wearing a crown that says Long Live The King. He is telling us plainly that he thinks of himself as and wants to be a king. This is blatantly unconstitutional and demands action by Congress before it is too late and Trump consolidates all the power of the government into his own hands. We need to learn from 1930s Germany and not let a lawfully elected leader wrestle away power from the other branches of government in order to become a dictator. The United States was founded on the principle that power should not rest solely in the hands of one person. Do not let Trump steal away power for himself so he can become "king." I urge you to act and stop this unconstitutional power grab by a wannabe dictator and save American democracy!
