An Open Letter

To: Asm. Connolly, Sen. McGuire, Gov. Newsom

From: A verified voter in Forest Knolls, CA

June 9

I am deeply concerned about cuts to IHSS. Trump, in his infinite wisdom, (not) has cut the amount that a person can have in savings from $100,000 to $2000. This is insane! Can you imagine how desperate a life you would be living with just $2000 in your savings account? People with disabilities deserve to live in dignity in their own homes whenever possible. I therefore oppose the lowering of the asset cap, the elimination of the backup provider system, the residual program, and the proposal to shift costs to counties. These would all result in severe harm to seniors and the disabled and in long term higher costs to the state in increased er visits, institutionalization, poverty and poor outcomes. Please support our disabled neighbors.
