I urge you to speak out forcefully against the trump administration’s deportation tactics. I am concerned with the lack of due process shown to the detained and deported individuals particularly Mahmoud Khalil, Rumeysa Ozturk, and Bader Khan Suri. These immigrants have been detained for political reasons, not because they pose a threat nor because they entered illegally. I am also disgusted by the deportation of Salvadorans and Venezuelans to El Salvador. 60 Minutes reports that 75% of these deportees have no criminal record and no gang affiliations in their investigations. Why then were they deported to a prison? If they entered undocumented and are not criminals, isn’t the remedy to deport them back to their home country, not to a prison, after due process. However, many were deported without due process. Among these deportees is Abrego Garcia, who was deported due to “administrative error.” Just writing this letter makes my hand shake and eyes water at the injustice and terror the administration has unleashed. I urge you yo be loud and brave and take an unequivocal stand against this.
